En er staat:"the implementation of policies aimed at reducing social inequalities seems to have a salutary effect on poluylation health", etc. Het verschil waar ik op basis van het NRC-stukje op wijs blijft recht overeind staat, als je tenminste nauwkeurig leest.Peter Stormhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01749482312193416537noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31667685.post-1159399488670531862006-09-28T01:24:00.000+02:002006-09-28T01:24:00.000+02:00Langer leven met psychiatrische stoornissen;uit de...Langer leven met psychiatrische stoornissen;
uit de sociaal-democratische huilstaat Zweden.

Mortality, severe morbidity, and injury in children living with single parents in Sweden: a population-based study.

Onderzoek;
Background
Growing up with one parent has become increasingly common, and seems to entail disadvantages in terms of socioeconomic circumstances and health. Our findings supplement studies in health economics on the effects of redistributive policies on health, by adding a political component. Our analysis suggests that political parties with egalitarian ideologies tend to implement redistributive policies. But the connection between ideology, social class constituency, and implementation of particular policies is complex, as can be seen from the fact that, during the past 30 years, many countries governed by social democratic parties have implemented neoliberal policies. Our analysis thus contributes to work on public health by making an empirical link between politics and policy, and emphasises a need to establish the interactions between politics, policy, and health outcomes. An important fi nding is that the implementation of policies aimed at reducing social inequalities seems to have a salutary eff ect on population health, which would explain why health indicators such as infant mortality are better in countries that have been governed by pro-redistributive political parties."

Nog eens goed lezen:
"But the connection between ideology, social class constituency, and implementation of particular policies is complex, as can be seen from the fact that, during the past 30 years, many countries governed by social democratic parties have implemented neoliberal policies"
